Baker School District Names Top 3 Superintendent Candidates

BAKER CITY – (Released by the Baker School District) Following panel interviews last week with the school Board, District staff, and community members who sit on the Budget Committee and Bond Oversight Committee, the Baker School District Board has named the top three finalists in their search for a new Superintendent for the coming school year.

Next week, Erin Lair, David Marshall, and William Schildbach will return for a second set of interviews, which will include a Community Meet & Greet in the Baker High School Library on Thursday, February 24, from 5:00 PM to 6:00PM PST.

Erin Lair graduated from Baker High School and is currently the Intermountain ESD Director of  School Improvement. She was previously Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Technology for Sherwood School District and, before that, Assistant Charter Administrator for Vision Charter School.

David Marshall is currently the Superintendent of Brookings-Harbor School District. Previously, he held the role of Assistant Superintendent for both Hermiston School District and Milton- Freewater Unified School District followingover 20 years of classroom experience.

William Schildbach is currently the Principal of Tikigaq School, a PreK-12 school located in Point Hope, Alaska. Previously, he was Superintendent of Nome Public Schools in Nome, Alaska, and spent time as Principal of both Mt. Spurr Elementary and Emmonak School, also in Alaska.

“We are thankful to have three strong candidates, and we look forward to getting to know them better next week to find the best fit for Baker School District,” says Board Chair Chris Hawkins. “We hope that our local community will join us for the Meet & Greet at Baker High School next Thursday to be introduced to the candidates and provide theirfeedback, as well.”

The Baker School District Board plans to hire the new Superintendent at their regular Board meeting on Thursday,March 10, at 6:00 PM PST.
