Baker School District mourns the loss of incoming fourth grader- memorial announced

BAKER CITY – Update from Marie Elliott, Gabriel’s mother.

There will be a private memorial for Gabriel Kirk this Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Phillips Lake. The community is welcome to join, however, we ask that people RSVP due to food and supplies because we are going to be doing floating lanterns for Gabriel.

The Baker School District announced the tragic passing of Gabriel Kirk, an incoming fourth grader in a message to parents.

The district says Kirk died last week at St. Luke’s Hospital in Boise.

In a message to district families, officials expressed their profound sadness over the loss. “Our hearts are broken for all who loved and cared for Gabriel,” the district stated.

Details regarding a memorial service for Gabriel are not yet available, and the district does not have any additional information to share about his passing at this time. The district says it’s committed to supporting Gabriel’s family and the school community during this difficult period.
