BAKER CITY – (Release from the Baker School District) Last week the Baker School District Board voted to approve the hiring of Jamie Barton as Vice Principal for Brooklyn Primary and South Baker Intermediate schools.
Barton has twenty-two years of teaching experience, including one year serving as an administrative TOSA, and has taken advantage of many opportunities to step into leadership roles impacting student success throughout her career. Barton describes herself as an educator of the whole student and someone who loves team-building, working closely with students, teachers, administrators, and the community.
“Ms. Barton has demonstrated creativity in eliminating opportunity gaps and identifying ways for students to thrive on less traditional paths of education,” says Superintended Mark Witty. “Our schools will benefit from her caring, hands-onleadership.”
Barton has been teaching at Sherwood High School in Sherwood, Oregon, since 2006. While there, she has also developed curriculum, led leadership initiatives and professional development, written grants, and served asdepartment chair and mentor.
“My grandparents lived in Baker for about 55 years, my dad grew up in Baker, and some of my fondest memories as achild are here,” says Barton. “I look forward to calling Baker my home.”
Barton will begin her new role as Vice Principal for Brooklyn Primary and South Baker Intermediate schools in August2021.
