Baker School District has announced changes within the business office and finance department

BAKER CITY – (Information from the Baker School District) We are excited to announce changes within the Business Office/Finance Department that we expect to bring even better service levels and financial controls to Baker School District!

Overview of Restructuring

Regina Sampson, our new Chief Financial Officer/Business Manager, has three direct reports in the Business Office/Finance Department: Sandy Harper, Kim Ogan, and Rebekka Koettel.

Sandy Harper is our Business Services Supervisor. She oversees Accounts Payable, District Office Reception, and the Print Shop.

Kim Ogan is our Finance Specialist. Her tasks include Accounts Receivable and assisting with Cash Management, Grant Management, Audit, and Budget processes.

Rebekka Koettel is our Payroll Specialist. She processes and reconciles Benefits, and she manages the Payroll process.

Professional Memberships

This team are all members of Oregon Association of School Business Officials (OASBO). The conference and communication from OASBO are vital to staying informed regarding challenges and opportunities coming to education.

Additionally, the district is enrolled in the International Association of School Business Officials (ASBO), with access to courses that maintain and advance skills in many different areas of finance, leadership, and collaboration.

Infinite Visions

We have some especially exciting news regarding system improvements.

Infinite Visions has been our accounting system since the 2017-18 fiscal year. It is a robust accounting system that includes Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Ledger modules; and we are implementing new modules within the system for this new school year to utilize the system more fully.

The Business Office/Finance Department is currently rolling out to departments and schools the use of the Requisitions process that is available within the Accounts Payable module. This process streamlines requisitions, eliminating redundancy and moving to a smoother electronic process.

The team is also implementing Budget Control groups that allow end users to see their budgets, review expenses to their accounts, and track encumbrances directly. Budget Control groups also aid in reporting.

The team has established step-by-step guides to ensure frontline staff and administrators have resources to support this transition and will continue to be part of the support resources.
