BAKER CITY – Many questions have been circulating on Facebook recently regarding how DUII’s are being handled by law enforcement in Baker City, more specifically why people aren’t being put into jail.
According to the Baker City Police Department, for the last few years the jail has not lodged DUII’s unless it is for a felony DUII, noting that even then, the person may not be jailed.
A DUII is a class A misdemeanor and currently the Baker County Jail is lodging for C Felonies and above.
This decision is contingent on jail space which is still limited due to COVID concerns.
