BAKER CITY – Baker City is set to have a new mayor.
The Baker City Council is scheduled to pick a mayor from among its seven members during the council’s regular meeting on Tuesday, August 8.
Under city charter, the council, not voters, pick the mayor. Mayors are selected to serve a two-year-term.
Former mayor Matt Diaz resigned last month because he said he was moving out of the city and was no longer eligible to serve.
Nathan Hodgon has been serving as acting mayor since Diaz’s resignation and the council picked Boston Colton to replace Diaz on the council.
The other councilors are Beverly Calder, Ray Duman, Dean Guyer, Jason Spriet and Johnny Waggoner Jr.
