BAKER CITY — A three-year-old is in the hospital after suffering serious injuries after a disabled vehicle accidentally rolled over the child.
According to the Baker County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO), emergency crews responded to a 911 call just after 6:00pm on Wednesday, May 15 that a child had been run over at an address along Highway 30, outside of Baker City.
According to the BCSO, it appears that a mother was loading her two children (four-years-old and three-years-old) into a bicycle trailer. As she was doing this, the four-year-old wandered away and entered a disabled vehicle on the property. The child apparently disengaged the emergency brake in the vehicle and it began rolling backwards and ultimately rolled over the bicycle trailer while the three-year-old was inside.
The three-year-old child sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital.
The four-year-old-child and mother did not sustain any injuries.
