BAKER COUNTY — The Baker County Safe Communities Coalition have recently reported a harrowing statistic. Looking over the last few years, suicide rates in Baker County were slowly decreasing until recently. In 2021, 5 lives were lost to suicide. In 2022, 4 lives were lost; and in 2023, 3 lives were lost.
An unfortunate rise was experienced in the year 2024, with 11 lives lost to suicide.
The Baker County Safe Communities Coalition writes, “While these numbers are sobering, there is hope. Together, we can make a difference by starting conversations, offering support, and knowing where to turn for help.”
