BAKER COUNTY — The Baker County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch is issuing a public warning after receiving numerous reports of scam calls targeting local residents. Authorities are cautioning everyone to be cautious and to refrain from providing personal information over the phone.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, individuals have been receiving calls where the caller falsely claims to be from the Baker County Sheriff’s Office. The scammers employ various tactics, including asserting that the recipient has a warrant for their arrest and must pay a fine, alleging missed jury duty with a demand for payment, or requesting sensitive personal information such as bank account details or social security numbers.
In response to these incidents, the Baker County Sheriff’s Office emphasizes that their deputies will never contact individuals with such demands or requests. Residents are advised to exercise caution and refrain from divulging any personal information over the phone.
