Baker County Search & Rescue helps rescue injured man near Rye Valley

BAKER COUNTY — Information from the Baker County Sheriff’s Office)  Baker County Dispatch received a call at 1:10 pm on Wednesday, June 5 regarding a subject that suffered an injury near the area of Rye Valley Lane and was on a steep slope. Huntington Fire was dispatched and requested assistance from BCSO and SAR. Sheriff Ash deployed the SAR ropes team.

When they arrived, they located the subject who sustained a leg injury after he fell down the slope. First aid was provided and the patient was packaged in a litter basket. SAR members, Huntington Fire personnel, Life Flight personnel and Sheriff Ash carried the patient to the Life Flight helicopter which was able to land nearby.

SAR, Pioneer Ambulance, and Life Flight all assisted.
