BAKER COUNTY – (Release from the Baker County Sheriff’s Office) On January 20, 2024, at approximately 2:58 p.m., Baker County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch was notified of a male walking down Denny Creek Road with a possible broken ankle.
Due to snowy conditions causing several miles of the road to be impassable by vehicle, Baker County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue was deployed to assist medics with patient retrieval. Four SAR members responded to the area with two tracked side-by-sides. After traveling approximately 6 miles up Denny Creek Road, SAR members located the patient, who built a fire in an effort to stay warm. He appeared to be in good condition.
The patient was loaded onto the side-by-side litter and transported several miles down to a U.S. Forest Service vehicle, who then transported him to the ambulance on Highway 7.
Baker County Search and Rescue was assisted by the U.S. Forest Service and Metro West Ambulance.
