Baker County Officials Identify Deceased in Tuesday’s Accidental Shooting

BAKER CITY, Ore. — The Baker County District Attorney’s Office has released the identity of the individual involved in Tuesday’s fatal incident at the intersection of Fourth and Campbell Streets.

District Attorney Greg Baxter identified the deceased as Tony Lefever, born April 14, 2001.

The update follows an investigation by the Baker City Police Department, the Baker County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, and the Medical Examiner’s Office. Authorities confirmed through physical evidence and video surveillance that Mr. Lefever died from a single gunshot wound resulting from an accidental discharge of a firearm. Investigators have reiterated that there is no ongoing threat to the community.

In a statement released through the District Attorney’s Office, the family of Mr. Lefever shared their gratitude for the outpouring of local support during this difficult time:
