BAKER CITY — This week is National Library Week! That means you still have time to take advantage of the services offered by your local libraries to celebrate.

National Library Week runs through April 12th, and the Baker County Library District informs residents that the annual celebration highlights “the valuable role libraries, librarians, and library workers play in transforming lives and strengthening our communities.”

A small piece of trivia was shared recently by the district. Baker City’s Carnegie Library was built in 1909, funded by Andrew Carnegie—a billionaire who spent 90% of his fortune building over 3,000 libraries around the globe.
