A total of 23 students from Brooklyn, South Baker, Haines, Burnt River, Pine Eagle, Keating, and Huntington public schools participated in the event. Each student was paired with a police officer, correctional officer, dispatcher, or other law enforcement support staff member to shop for holiday gifts in a fun, supportive, and memorable environment.
Participating personnel represented the Baker City Police Department, Baker County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, and Oregon Department of Corrections; all volunteering their time to ensure the students experienced a meaningful and joyful event. Beyond shopping, the event fostered positive relationships between students and public safety professionals while reinforcing a shared commitment to community well-being.
Organizers expressed appreciation for the continued collaboration between schools, agencies, and community partners like D&B Supply and Coffee Corral that made the event possible. Organizers also extend sincere gratitude to our local citizens and businesses that donated to make this program so successful. The Shop with a Cop program remains an important opportunity to support local youth and strengthen trust between public safety agencies and the communities they serve.”
