BAKER CITY – (Release from the Baker County Historical Society) The Baker County Historical Society (BCHS) would like to invite interested individuals to come to the February meeting of the Baker County Historical Society on February 7, 2023, at 4:00 PM at Crossroads Carnegie Art Center at 2020 Auburn Ave in the downstairs studio.

The Baker County Historical Society is a volunteer lead organization of people interested in the History of Baker County. Some of the current officers need to step into other projects for BCHS and more volunteers are needed to fill the gaps in our services and expand history programs.

The Baker County Historical Society is rebooting after the challenges of the pandemic and need to recruit new volunteers to the governing board and officers. Committees’ priorities were decided at the January meeting include community events, the history books that are entrusted to the BCHS, and the Chinese Cemetery and the governing body will continue to work to define the role of the Historical Society in Baker County. “We need to recruit new volunteers to help with building the Historical Society programs and we really have a lot of fun doing it. Anyone interested is suggested to come and see and meet the governing committee and consider joining us.” Stated Ginger Savage

“During the last few years, the Baker County Historical Society lost so many beloved members of the governing committee and 2021 a group of stakeholders chose to step forward to assure the Baker County Historical Society continued as an organization. I have to step away as President to focus on the needs of Crossroads and the same is true for Cammy Warner with Baker Heritage Museum Board and Mary Jane Guyer, Eastern Oregon Museum. It is not that we are leaving completely, all three will continue to be members of the committee but need to move onto different work. We need new members and invite them to the meeting.” Ginger Savage, Executive Director Crossroads Carnegie Art Center and BCHS Chair.’
