BAKER CITY — Another year and another very successful run for fair participants in Baker County.
The Baker County Fair’s annual livestock auction achieved significant financial success, bringing in $630,000 in revenue from 189 entries. Organizers say that’s the second-highest total of all time. The average prices per pound for auction items were:
Goats: $17.14 (14 entries)
Lambs: $15.77 (31 entries)
Poultry: $17.71 (7 entries)
Rabbits: $62.14 (7 entries)
Steers: $4.74 (68 entries)
Swine: $6.00 (62 entries)
The fair also featured contributions from 34 sponsors, raising approximately $14,150. Thirteen vendors participated, setting a new record for the event.
“Community involvement was a major goal for us this year,” said Devon Colton from OSU Extension Baker County. “We were pleased to see a strong presence from local businesses and vendors, and we’ve worked hard to engage the broader community through our social media and website.”
The Baker County Fairboard also awarded $1,682 in Open Class Premiums, with Karen Ramer receiving Best of Show for her photography.
