BAKER COUNTY – The Baker County Board of Commissioners approved a temporary agreement with Metro West Ambulance to cover the period before Baker City ceases ambulance service on Sept. 30 at its meeting Wednesday. The agreement deals with the company based in Hillsboro providing interim services.
Metro West ambulances will be parked in the parking lot of the former Baker Clinic on Pocahontas Road near St. Alphonsus Medical Center in Baker City. The company will also set up office space in the building. The hospital is not charging Metro West.
The vote on the temporary agreement was unanimous.Metro West Ambulance has been in business since 1953. It has provided ambulance services to Washington County since 1997, provides medical coverage for events at the Rose Quarter, and serves a number of other communities in Oregon.
