BAKER COUNTY – The Baker County Board of Commissioners is holding a public hearing Wednesday at 9 a.m. on the budget for the fiscal year that begins July 1. A summary of the budget is posted on the city’s website and the entire document can be seen at the Board of Commissioners Office, 1995 Third Street, weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The budget was prepared by the same accounting principles that were used in forming the current year’s budget. The spending plan totals $43,990,086. The current year’s budget totaled $40,753,374.
The general fund makes up $17,142,972 of that. General fund expenses include many of the county’s operations including the Baker County Sheriff’s Office, the Baker County District Attorney’s Office, emergency management, economic development, and the county jail.
The county states that the budget for the 2022-23 fiscal year was prepared on the basis of accounting that is the same as the current fiscal year spending plan.
