BAKER CITY — Spread the word, spread the love.

The Baker County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with Baker High School leadership students, is now collecting 16 oz. jars of peanut butter to be donated to the Baker City Backpack Program.

The deadline to donate is May 15.

According to the BCSO, the Baker City Backpack Program provides supplemental weekend food for students in the Baker 5J School District. At the end of the 2021-2022 school year, volunteers were filling approximately 200 bags per week.

Sheriff Ash has volunteered with this program for nearly 10 years, and the BCSO says the  Baker City Backpack Program is “near and dear to our hearts.”

Donations can be dropped off at BCSO: 3410 K Street. All jars donated MUST be 16 oz. (no larger, no smaller).
