BAKER CITY — A new facility is now in charge of caring for impounded dogs within Baker City. According to Baker City Manager Barry Murphy, “The previous dog impoundment facility did not wish to continue with that role,” and the city has shifted to utilizing Baker Veterinary Hospital to provide dog impoundment services. Murphy noted that this is more of a temporary solution, and officials “…are looking at another long-term solution of whether it is feasible to have a County/City-sponsored impound facility in Baker City, but that will take some time to research and determine viable options.”
While the facility has changed, the process for an owner to get their dog back once it has been impounded is the same. The owners still need to go to the Baker City Finance Department to pay the fees before acquiring a release form.
