BAKER CITY — A Baker City woman, who was recently arrested for using the credit card of a dead woman, is back in jail after repeatedly breaking into a home while the family was there.

49-year-old Debra Efird was arrested on December 30. She’s accused of breaking into a home several times on 2nd Street while the homeowners were present. According to court documents, on December 28 she entered the home and allegedly screamed at one of the homeowner’s that it was her home and then became aggressive when he asked her to leave. Efird allegedly pushed the man to try and get into the kitchen and one of the homeowner’s children’s bedrooms before he was able to get her to leave. Police were called but Efird had left the scene.

Just two days later, on December 30, Efird again tried to break into the home. When police contacted her, she said she owned the home, which she does not. As officers attempted to take her into custody, she fled the scene on her bike.

Not surprisingly, she didn’t get very far. Officers were able to get her off the bike as she resisted arrest and finally placed her in handcuffs.

She’s now charged with First-Degree Burglary, Trespass, Harassment, Escape and Resisting Arrest.

These new charges are on top of the charges stemming from her using the stolen credit card of a recently deceased woman.
