BAKER CITY – (Information from the U.S. Forest Service) Baker City has been awarded $246,000 to, as stated by the U.S. Forest Service, “update and revision to our current and long-standing Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP).” This is part of a larger 23.5 million dollar investment into several communities statewide to, as further stated in the U.S. Forest Service release, “assist communities, including Tribal communities, non-profit organizations, state forestry agencies and Alaska Native corporations with planning for and mitigating wildfire risks on tribal, state, and privately managed land.”
An additional round of wildfire risk funding will be made available by the U.S. Forest Service to more communities later in 2023.
