BAKER CITY – Crews from Baker City Public Works and a contractor for the Oregon Department of Transportation are replacing more than 300 sidewalk accessibility ramps throughout the city. The work is expected to continue into the fall.
The workers are very close to the road. Pedestrians are routed around the construction with signs and barricades. Both motorists and pedestrians are urged to drive through the construction zones cautiously.
Crosswalk painting and occurred last week. Several of the crosswalks in Baker City that are normally painted will not be until after the new ADA ramp work is completed.
