BAKER CITY — The Baker City Public Works Department proudly marked an incredible milestone this week – nine consecutive years without a time loss injury.
Director of Public Works Joyce Bornstedt expressed immense pride, emphasizing the professionalism and teamwork that has characterized the past nine years. “Our Public Works employees exhibit compassion and concern for their coworkers and citizens every day,” said Bornstedt. She says the commitment to safety is the department’s top priority, with comprehensive measures in place, including regular training, provision of personal protective equipment, and thorough project briefings. Bornstedt also highlighted the department’s open-door policy, saying it fosters a culture of inclusion and collaboration. As Baker City Public Works celebrates this significant achievement, Bornstedt says the focus remains on maintaining a safe working environment. “I couldn’t be more proud to be a part of our Public Works team!” said Bornstedt. The department encourages others to prioritize safety and learn from their successful nine-year journey without time loss injuries.
