BAKER CITY – Baker City Police responded to a report of an online threat against Baker High School on Thursday, May 9.
The Baker School District says the FBI flagged an online threat made by a student and notified local law enforcement yesterday, who immediately began an investigation, which is ongoing.
Baker City Police Chief Ty Duby says his officers determined it was a “bad choice in pranks”, but that officers didn’t believe there was actual intent.
He says there was a citation issued for disorderly conduct to the student and police will work with the District Attorney’s Office and Juvenile Court for a resolution.
Chief Duby says, “In this time of school shootings and violence kids need to be aware that even “jokes” about school shootings will generate a response from law enforcement and be thoroughly investigated.”
The school district says the student has been suspended.
