BAKER CITY — The Baker City Police Department is reminding citizens about the importance of securing your vehicles.

Baker City Police Chief Ty Duby tells Elkhorn Media Group that there’s been a string of recent thefts from vehicles. A firearm was recently taken out of an unlocked vehicle in Baker. Two other recent pilferages from cars saw a purse get stolen, as well as a set of keys.

Duby says all three thefts occurred in the early morning hours and there’s currently no suspects.

The department wants to remind everyone to lock your vehicles at all times and never leave personal belongings, especially valuable ones, visible in your vehicle.

In a Facebook post, the department says, “Taking these simple steps can greatly reduce the risk of theft and ensure the safety of your belongings.”
