Baker City Police Department Congratulates Officers on Sergeant Promotions

BAKER CITY – (Release from the Baker City Police Department) Please join us in congratulating Sergeant Wayne Chastain, recently promoted to Detective Sergeant and Officer Rand Weaver, recently promoted to Sergeant!
Detective Sergeant Wayne Chastain stepped into the Major Crimes’ detective position following the resignation of Detective Zach Thatcher and has been instrumental in providing exemplary criminal investigation follow up to some very serious person crimes. In addition, Detective Sergeant Chastain has continued to work new cases, collaborating with Narcotics Detective Jared Wood when needed, and has completed a variety of online and in-person trainings to better prepare him for this role within the Investigations Unit.
Sergeant Rand Weaver, an 18-year veteran with BCPD with over 32 years’ experience in law enforcement, stepped into the role of Patrol Sergeant when Detective Sergeant Chastain transitioned to investigations, working as an out-of-class Sergeant in the interim. Sergeant Rand Weaver will soon be sworn in as a Sergeant and will continue to oversee one of BCPD’s two patrol teams that provide 24-hour police coverage to the citizens of Baker City.
