BAKER CITY – A teen accused of shooting and killing another juvenile in Baker City last year is now back in Baker County to face murder charges.
The Baker County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that 18-year-old Cannon Tally is the suspect in the shooting, which occurred last July in a parking lot near Baker Technical Institute. He’s accused of shooting a male juvenile and fleeing the scene. The victim, who has still not been publicly identified, died.
A female juvenile who was at the scene was unharmed.
At the time of the shooting, Tally was 17 and after his arrest was held in a juvenile detention center out of the county until he turned 18 in June. He’s now lodged in the Baker County jail to await trial.
Tally is charged with murder and unlawful use of a weapon.
Baker County District Attorney Greg Baxter Jr. tells Elkhorn Media Group the criminal case against Tally is still in the juvenile court system and that he has petitioned Tally to be charged as an adult.
