Baker City man charged with assault after stabbing during disagreement

BAKER CITY – (Release from the Baker City Police Department) On March 5, 2024, at about 3:00 am Baker City Police Officers responded to a reported stabbing in Baker City. The victim had been driven to Saint Alphonsus Hospital and dropped off for treatment. He was then transported to St Alphonsus in Boise, Idaho. As the investigation progressed it was learned that the location of the stabbing occurred outside an apartment at 1616 Auburn Avenue in Baker City. There was a disagreement between two individuals regarding a “dept” that was owed. The disagreement ended up with the victim receiving stab wounds to his upper left chest area.

The case was presented to a Baker County Grand Jury and today the suspect was taken into custody by BCPD and lodged in the Baker County Jail on a secret warrant for assault first and second degree. He was also charged with a post-prison violation as he was currently on post-prison supervision.

Suspect: James Robert Blitch, age 54. He was currently residing at 1860 Plum Street in Baker City.

Victim: Jerry Dean Littleton, age 56. He had been residing at 1616 Auburn Avenue in

Baker City.
