BAKER CITY – (Information from Baker City Police) A 74-year-old man was arrested by Baker City Police on public indecency charges after police say he committed a lewd act in front of a minor.
Police say that on the morning of Monday, July 17, Robert Conklin was sitting in a car on the intersection of Washington and Grove when he summoned a nearby juvenile male over. As Conklin was sitting in his car, the juvenile male allegedly witnessed him performing a lewd act upon himself. The juvenile male then hit Conklin in the arm with a skateboard the juvenile was carrying, and the juvenile left the area.
Baker City police were dispatched to the scene then contacted and spoke to Conklin. After determining a crime had occurred and developing probable cause for an arrest, Conklin was arrested and transported to the Baker County Jail. He was charged with public indecency and disorderly conduct. Jail records show he is no longer lodged in the jail.Police say this is still an active investigation and additional charges are still being considered.
