BAKER CITY – A Baker City man is in custody after allegedly stealing a pickup truck, eluding police, colliding with another motorist, and fleeing the scene. Oregon State Police report that on Monday, November 18th, a Trooper attempted to pull over a Ford F150 on Oregon Highway 7 for a traffic violation. The driver of the vehicle did not stop, and eluded law enforcement.
The suspect vehicle was later involved in a crash with another motorist, a 75-year-old Baker City woman, and the driver fled the scene. Xysis Silk Lane Lahey, 30, of Baker City was identified as the suspect driver and was arrested at the general area of the crash scene. Lahey was lodged in the Baker County Jail by Oregon State Police.
The Baker Police Department investigated the crash scene. Further charges are pending.
