BAKER CITY – (Release from the City of Baker City) The City of Baker City is experiencing very high water usage during this hot weather. Water conservation will be the key to allow water supply to meet the public’s water demand.
The City will move up to Stage 2 of its Water Curtailment Plan effective Monday, July 12, 2021. The Water Curtailment Plan has four stages including Stage 1-Alert Status, Stage 2- Warning Status, Stage 3-Critical Status and Stage 4-Emergency Status.
The Warning stage requires that “yard/garden irrigating will be limited to evening or early morning hours only”. Public Works has set the hours of 7pm to 7am for outside watering. Daytime irrigation wastes water due to the higher evaporation rate in the heat of the day. In addition, Public Works has specifically requested that the Parks, Cemetery, Golf Course and Sports Complex reduce their usage for irrigation.
Everyone’s cooperation is appreciated. Working Together Works!
