BAKER CITY — The Department of Public Safety Standards and Training recently put on a special class for Baker City firefighters. Baker City Fire and Rescue Station 24 reports that the department put on a flammable liquid and gas (F.L.A.G.) class for both paid staff and volunteer firefighters at the station.

Station 24 noted that the training will help reduce the risk of a boiling liquid expanding vapor explosion (BLEVE) from happening. The class is required for firefighters to advance to a Firefighter 2 certification. The training is also geared to help improve teamwork among firefighters.

The training took place in the Baker Technical Institute parking lot.
