For a second straight day, the National Weather Service in Boise, Idaho has issued a Red Flag Warning
for the Baker Valley (to include Baker City) effective Friday July 24, 2026 at 1 pm PDT and expiring at 8
pm PDT on Saturday July 25, 2026.
During a Red Flag Warning, small sparks can quickly become dangerous fires. Please take the following
precautions to help protect your home, neighborhood, and community:
– Avoid outdoor burning, including campfires, trash burning, and yard debris burning.
– Use grills or smokers only on non-flammable surfaces, such as gravel, pavement, or concrete.
– Never leave fires unattended, and fully extinguish charcoal, embers, and open flames before
leaving the area.
– Clear dry vegetation around your home and maintain defensible space.
– Move flammable items, including propane tanks, away from buildings and other structures.
– Park vehicles on paved or gravel surfaces to reduce the risk of sparks from hot parts or dragging
chains.
For the latest updates, please contact your local fire department or fire district and follow them on their
social media platforms.
