BAKER CITY – Baker City may soon have a new city manager.
During a meeting on December 26, the city council voted unanimously to formally offer the job to Barry Murphy, a former Air Force pilot who most recently was wing commander for the 8th Fighter Wing at Kunsan Air Base in South Korea.
The offer is contingent on negotiating a contract.
The council chose between Murphy, current interim city manager Jon France, and Rachelle Perkes, executive director Sac and Fox Tribe on the Mississippi in Iowa.
France’s contract as interim manager ends on December 28.
