BAKER CITY — A building in downtown Baker City will soon go back to having an “old-timey” look. Baker City Downtown reports the Candy Factory building on Main Street will be getting a facelift, so-to-speak. The building at 1831 Main Street in Baker City is undergoing work that includes a new façade and new windows.
According to Baker City Downtown, “The original facade was one of the most ornate and beautiful stone facades downtown, but was unfortunately completely cut off the building and removed between 1950-1955 based on historical photos from the Baker County Public Archive.”
The downtown organization reports that the new owner of the building is committed to bringing the building back to a “more historic aesthetic,” and that the new façade will help to preserve the historic character of downtown Baker City.
