BAKER CITY — The Baker City Backpack Program reports that volunteers have doubled-up on the food given to students this holiday season. According to program officials, “All [of] our students receive double the food before extended school breaks, and our weekly numbers continue to grow!”

The Baker City Backpack Program provides bags of non-perishable food to students in the Baker 5J School District who need it, helping to ensure the children have access to food when school meal programs are unavailable on weekends and holidays.

Program officials report that 274 students received food bags this week. For more information about the program, log on to www.bakercitybackpack.org.
