Baker City Backpack Program begins Sept. 25th

BAKER CITY — School is back in session in Baker City, and that means the local volunteer-driven backpack program to battle food insecurity will be starting up again soon. The Baker City Backpack Program provides bags of non-perishable food to students in the Baker 5J School District who are at risk and in need. The program begins for this school year Thursday, September 25th.
Program volunteers recently posted on their social media platform, “If you, or someone you know is experiencing food insecurity, and would like to be included in the first week of Backpack Program bags, please reach out to your school counselor by Wednesday, September 17th.” Families interested in the program can sign up anytime during the school year.
