BAKER CITY – School may be out this summer, but construction work is gearing up on projects enabled by the passage of the Baker School District 5J bond. In addition to three projects this summer, more are also scheduled for the summers of 2023 and 2024.
According to a schedule from the Wenaha Group, work has already begun on seismic work for Wing 3 as well as HVAC and safety and security improvements at Brooklyn Elementary School. Also this month, crews began a seismic rehabilitation of the middle school gymnasium.
The biggest project will be the construction of Baker Middle School’s cafeteria and multipurpose building. That will begin in August, as will HVAC, safety and security work in the existing building.
All other projects for lower grades are scheduled to begin in 2023. Work at Baker High School is scheduled for 2024.
