Baker 5J notifies staff and students of COVID case

BAKER CITY – (Information provided by the Baker School District)

Baker School District 5J was notified that one South Baker student tested positive for COVID-19. 

As per the protocol, the District shared cohort information with County Health Officials. 

The Baker County Health Department has communicated with students and staff identified as having been in close proximity with COVID-19 positive individuals regarding the need to quarantine. Close proximity is defined as being within six feet of the individual who has tested positive for a total of 15 minutes over a 24-hour period. Individuals identified as needing to quarantine have been contacted. 

Those students who have been quarantined as a result of being in close proximity will be able to accessinstruction through the District’s Comprehensive Distance Learning platform. Students will return to in person school on November 30th. 

Superintendent Witty, stated, “This is hard work that requires families, Baker School District staff and Baker County Health Department staff to cooperate and coordinate the response. By doing so we can stop the spread of COVID-19 keeping students, families, staff and the greater community safe.”
