WALLA WALLA – Multiple agencies responded to an auto recycling yard early Saturday morning to find a stacked pile of seven to nine vehicles on fire. It happened just before 4 a.m. at Kelty’s Auto Parts, 250 West Rees Road in Walla Walla.
Once crews gained access to the property, they quickly established a water supply and attacked the fire using foam too. Although no structures were threatened, additional stacked vehicles nearby were at risk.
Due to the complexity of reaching all the spaces in the stack of vehicles, additional crews fire equipment was dispatched. A total of 11 apparatuses and 25 firefighters were on the scene fighting the fire from the Walla Walla Fire Department, College Place Fire Department and Walla Walla County Fire District Number Four.
There were no injuries to firefighters. The cause of the fire is currently undetermined. The estimated property and content losses are valued at $50,000.
