PENDLETON – The National Weather Service predicts that the weather this month will be slightly warmer than normal, with average precipitation. National Weather Service Hydrologist Marilyn Lohmann says that’s good news.

“Even though it still should be warmer than normal, maybe we won’t have quite as many days of excessive heat,” she said of the near normal precipitation prediction.

August’s average daytime highs are about 87 degrees with normal lows at 57.

“That 30-year precipitation average ticks up just a little bit to 0.38 inches,” she said. In July, the region was well below the average precipitation. Pendleton only recorded 0.02 of an inch, 0.01 in Walla Walla, and 0.00 in Hermiston.
