ATVs now allowed on some county roads

WALLA WALLA — The Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office is advising drivers to pay more attention as street-legal. wheeled ATVs are now approved on most county roads with speed limits of 35 miles per hour or less.

According to the new ordinance passed this week, operators must be licensed, and the ATV must meet all registration, equipment and licensing requirements, plus be certified by a Washington state licensed wheeled ATV dealer or motor vehicle repair shop.

The operator must also carry proof of liability insurance.

ATVs are prohibited on all primitive roads as defined in RCW 36.75.300 and on all county roadways having a speed limit greater than 35 miles per hour.
