ATHENA – The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call about a disturbance at 216 E. College St., Athena involving residents at that address on Saturday night. The disturbance ended in the arrest of Jason Edwin Beers, 48.
“Beers, although a resident at the address, was not allowed access to some of the rooms within,” Criminal Division Capt. Paul Wolverton said. “Beers had forcibly entered one of these rooms and caused damage to property inside.”
Wolverton said that while deputies were taking the suspect into custody he spit on UCSO Deputy Derick Smith.
“Beers was transported and lodged at the Umatilla County Jail on probable cause for charges of Burglary 1, Criminal Trespass 1, Aggravated Harassment, and Criminal Mischief II,” Wolverton reported. “There is no further risk to the public as a result of this incident.”
First-degree burglary and aggravated harassment are both felony charges.
