Artists wanted for utility boxes

COLLEGE PLACE — The city of College Place is once again inviting the public to help turn eight traffic utility boxes on College Avenue into pieces of art. The traffic utility boxes were recently added during street improvements.

Submissions must be representative of the Walla Walla Valley and character. The selected artwork will be digitally printed on weather resistant vinyl wraps then installed onto the traffic utility boxes. The objective is to add art onto an otherwise utilitarian surface, to discourage graffiti and beautify the streets in College Place.

Eight separate artists or teams will be selected from the submitted proposals.  Selected artists will be awarded $350 to complete artwork for one box. The call to artists is open until 4 p.m. on July 30.  There is no specific theme, so artists are allowed open interpretation and creativity to make a lasting impression in the community.
