Arson investigation in La Grande

LA GRANDE – According to information from the La Grande Police Department last night around 11:30pm, dispatch received a 911 report of a fire located 1013 Jackson Avenue in La Grande.
Officers from the La Grande Police Department along with members of the La Grande Fire Department immediately responded, arriving moments later.
“LGPD officers noticed a boat parked next to the residence was fully engulfed and was threatening to catch the residence on fire as well as a camp trailer parked next to the burning boat. Officers quickly pulled the boat, which was on a boat trailer, out of the way from the nearby residence and RV trailer, minimizing collateral damage.”
Officials with LGPD, say that “The La Grande Fire Department was able to put the fire out and no one was injured. The investigating officers were able to obtain home security camera footage of the fire being lit by one person, who fled prior to police arrival. “
An arson investigation is underway and the LGPD is receiving assistance from the Oregon State Police Arson Investigation Unit.
