Arrests made in connection with different thefts

JOHN DAY – It was a busy day on Tuesday for the Grant County Sheriff’s Office. According to the Grant County Communications Agency, at about 9:15 a.m., the agency responded to the Sunset Motel in John Day. Travis Freniere, 35, of John Day was arrested on an Oregon State Board warrant.

At 2:39 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office arrested Jacob Dolecki, 27, of Ortonville, Michigan for Theft by Receiving.

On the morning of December 14th, the Grant County Sheriff Office located and arrested Travis James Freniere of John Day on an outstanding Parole Board warrant. Freniere was also being sought in connection with a previous evening vehicle theft and other crimes. 

During the early afternoon hours of the 14th, information was also developed regarding a person in the John Day area selling high end mountain bikes that were reportedly stolen out of Moab Utah. 

Four mountain bikes were recovered with an estimated value of $20,000 

One person was taken into custody for Theft by Receiving, and the case is still under investigation. A total of fifteen mountain bikes were reported stolen in the Utah case.
