On Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at 10:51 AM, the La Grande Police Department (LGPD) arrested 41-year old Douglas Wayne Piggott, of La Grande, in connection with the armed robbery that occurred at the Mobile Service Station on August 5, 2024.
On August 5, 2024, at approximately 9:30 PM, the LGPD responded to a 911 report of an armed robbery at the Mobile Service Station located at 408 Adams Avenue in La Grande. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the suspect had fled the scene prior to their arrival.
The robbery occurred when the suspect, described as a white male, entered the business shortly before 9:30 PM. Armed with a revolver-style handgun, the suspect pointed the firearm at the cashier and demanded money from them. The cashier complied, handing over approximately $100 in cash. The suspect then exited the building and fled in a silver or grey Dodge Caravan-style minivan.
The suspect was wearing black tennis shoes, black shorts, a red and black flannel button-up shirt, and a black baseball hat. There were two employees present during the robbery, but no patrons were in the store at the time. No one was injured during this incident.
Preliminary information suggested that there was a second person in the suspect vehicle. The LGPD, with assistance from the Union County Sheriff’s Office and the Oregon State Police, conducted a search for the suspect(s) and the suspect vehicle.
As a result of ongoing investigative efforts, Douglas Piggott has been arrested in relation to this robbery. The suspect vehicle has been located, and we are no longer seeking information regarding it. The investigation is still ongoing, and we continue to seek the public’s help. Anyone with additional information that may assist in further identifying any accomplices is encouraged to contact the La Grande Police Department at 541-963-1017.
