MILTON-FREEWATER – The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office is charging Manuel Adam Peralez Jr. of Walla Walla with second-degree murder in the shooting on Yellow Jacket Road near Milton-Freewater early Saturday morning that took the life of Jason Samuel Warner, 18, of Milton-Freewater.
The suspect was identified early in the investigation. The sheriff’s office reports that the suspect walked into the Milton-Freewater Police Department Sunday at 11 a.m. UCSO was notified and, in cooperation with the Umatilla County District Attorney’s Office, Milton-Freewater Police Department, Walla Walla Police Department, Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office, and the Pasco Police Department, established probable cause for the arrest.
Peralez is also charged with second-degree disorderly conduct and second-degree criminal trespass, which are misdemeanors. While the bail for those secondary charges is $3,500, he will not be able to bail out because there is no bail for the murder charge.
When sheriff’s deputies responded to a shots fired call at 12:10 a.m. Saturday, they learned Warner had been transported to Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla in a private vehicle. He was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving.
