PENDLETON – Pendleton Parks and Recreation staff and volunteers are hard at work getting ready to reopen the Pendleton Aquatic Center on June 12 to the general public. Last summer the facility was closed due to COVID-19.
The Pendleton High School Swim Team petitioned the city to allow them to use the facility to practice in May after its season was shifted by the Oregon School Activities Association. The city decided to utilize next month as a time for a host of lessons that include swimming, scuba diving, and water safety classes.
The May activities and swim lessons are open for registration either online, over the phone or in the parks office on Tutuilla Road. Only the 50-meter pool will be in operation during May and the center’s entrance has temporarily shifted to the old pool building on the east side.
The full center will be open on June 12. Season passes are now available for purchase at a 10 percent early-bird discount through June 11. More information is available at https://pendletonparksandrec.com/parksrec/page/pendleton-aquatic-center.
